Jackie Pettitt's effortless style feels as natural as the way she moves through life, practical, timeless, and deeply her own. Her blend of worn denim, utilitarian workwear, and outdoor functionality reflects a life grounded in purpose and quiet confidence. Every detail feels lived-in and intentional, shaped by years of returning to what feels true.

That same philosophy extends into her latest venture, Sunny’s Slow Made Goods, a brand she runs with her partner, celebrating the beauty of creating with care. Born from a desire for balance and more time with their young son, the project embodies slow living in every sense: thoughtful craftsmanship, intention, and quality over speed.

Between motherhood, creativity, and community, Jackie carries a sense of calm resilience. She’s a reminder that growth doesn’t have to be loud or fast, it can be slow, steady, and deeply fulfilling when rooted in purpose.

You have such a distinct, effortless way of dressing. How would you describe your personal style?

My style is influenced by a mix of military workwear, denim, and outdoor functional clothing that I like to wear on our camping trips. I’m usually wearing some elements of both in my everyday outfits.

Are there particular pieces, colours or textures you’re gravitating towards at the moment that feel reflective of where you are in life?

I’ve just come back to wearing workwear and denim, which I was really into 6–7 years ago. So lately, I’ve been wearing a lot of blue denim and army green tones. I think it symbolises finding my way back to my true self and what genuinely interests me, not being as influenced by current trends or brands.

Can you share the story behind Sunny’s Slow Made Goods? What inspired you to begin this next chapter of creating?

The idea came about last year when our son was having a really hard time going to daycare, so we decided to take him out. We were both creating content and staying home with him full-time, and we wanted another stream of income so we could keep doing that without relying solely on brand deals. We decided to just go for it and were able to launch within a few months since we could sew everything in-house. We’ve learned so much over the past year and are really happy with everything we have created so far.

The idea of “slow made” carries intention and care. What does “slow” mean to you right now, both in your work and your way of living?

The word “slow” for me means taking the time to do or produce something of high quality, something you can be proud of. I want to look back on this time in my life and feel proud of what we’re making and how we’re spending our time together.

Motherhood can transform our inner world in so many ways. How has it shaped yours, and how do you make space to stay connected to your creativity as you build your business?

Motherhood has changed me in so many ways. I’m much more resilient and find joy in the small moments. Now that I have limited time that’s my own, I’m a lot more intentional with the friendships I make, the places I go, and the things I put my time and energy into. To be honest, I’m still trying to figure out how to make space to stay creative and dedicate time to our business. I’m a type B mum, so I usually just go with the flow and end up working, researching, or planning at the end of the day once my son has gone to bed, if I’m not too tired.

You have such a gentle but grounded presence online. How do you nurture a sense of community that feels genuine and safe?

I think it comes back to staying true to myself and doing things that bring me joy. I actually really love creating content about our camping trips or how we style our denim, and I want that energy to come through in the content itself. I think when you create from a genuine place, you attract a genuine audience.

If you could design your perfect slow Sunday, what would it look and feel like?

Hopefully I’d get a sleep-in, then enjoy a nice breakfast and coffee at home before heading to the playground or park, followed by lunch at a café or one of our favourite Thai restaurants.

Lastly, if you could offer one message to other women building something slowly, softly, and in their own time, what would you say?

Think about your end goal, the one that truly aligns with what you want long term and then work out how you can start building towards it. Even if it’s just tiny steps at first, at least you’re moving in the right direction. Also, give yourself grace and celebrate all the wins, big or small, because life can feel so full and chaotic at times, and you might not be giving yourself the credit you deserve.
